{"id":1122,"date":"2010-03-03T09:19:33","date_gmt":"2010-03-03T09:19:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/?p=1122"},"modified":"2022-01-06T17:03:38","modified_gmt":"2022-01-06T17:03:38","slug":"manufacturing-facility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/manufacturing-facility\/","title":{"rendered":"Local company invests \u00a35m in new manufacturing facility"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Wolverhampton-based fencing specialist Zaun is biting back against the recession after starting work on a new 50,000 sq ft extension to its current manufacturing facility on Steel Drive.<\/p>\n<p>The new \u00a35 million factory, which is due to be officially opened later this year, will double Zaun\u2019s manufacturing capabilities and create around 30 new jobs for the area. The investment has been supported by the Regional Development Agency, Advantage West Midlands (AWM) through the Grant for Business Investment scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Zaun has invited Ken Purchase, Labour MP for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/fencing-for-cemeteries\/\" title=\"Wolverhampton pioneers new boost in burial plots\">Wolverhampton<\/a> North East, Emma Reynolds, Prospective Parliamentary Candidate and Jim Johnston, AWM\u2019s Business Manager for the 2012 Games, to the site to see how the new factory development is coming along.<\/p>\n<p>Ken Purchase MP, commented: \u201cThere\u2019s no doubt that the West Midlands <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/about-us\/mesh-manufacturer\/\"  title=\"manufacturing\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">manufacturing<\/a> industry has been hit hard over the last few years. However, the good <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/news-and-events\/\" title=\"News &amp; Events\">news<\/a> is the manufacturing sector is fighting back. The fact that businesses like <a title=\"Zaun Invest in Health &amp; Safety Training for Staff\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/safety-training-for-staff\/\">Zaun are continuing to invest<\/a> is excellent for Wolverhampton, our local economy and the wider region as a whole.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In spite of the recession, Zaun has continued to grow year on year and the new manufacturing facility will help the company meet increasing demand for fencing solutions, particularly in the high <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/blog\/securing-christmas-markets\/\" title=\"Securing Christmas markets \u2013 the benefits of HVM products\">security market<\/a> that is rising in importance to protect the UK\u2019s critical national infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>Zaun has also won a multi-million pound contract from the London 2012 Olympic &amp; Paralympic Games to design, manufacture, supply and install a new high security fence and gates around the 10.5 mile perimeter of the Olympic Park, in <a title=\"Wetlands project opens up East London \u2018open-air lung\u2019\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/wetlands-fencing\/\">East London<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Jim Johnston at AWM, said: \u201cThe 2012 Games offer a huge number of opportunities for West Midlands businesses, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/blog\/apprentice-fencing\/\" title=\"Zaun fence backdrop to Apprentice winners\u2019 Orbit abseil\">Zaun successfully bid for the fencing<\/a> contract through the \u2018Compete For\u2019 procurement system. The company is a shining example of how manufacturers are bucking the economic trend and we are pleased to be working with them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alastair Henman, Joint <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/research-and-development\/\" title=\"Zaun appoints new research and development manager\">Managing Director of Zaun<\/a>, says it\u2019s a really exciting time at the company: \u201cThe extension will increase Zaun\u2019s productivity, boost job opportunities in the area and help retain manufacturing in the UK. Part of this current growth stage will also see the installation of an innovative type of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/blog\/railings-vs-mesh-fencing\/\" title=\"Railings Vs Mesh Fencing\">fencing mesh<\/a> machine.
