{"id":4206,"date":"2015-06-12T09:54:17","date_gmt":"2015-06-12T09:54:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/?p=4206"},"modified":"2022-01-07T09:27:21","modified_gmt":"2022-01-07T09:27:21","slug":"power-station-fencing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/power-station-fencing\/","title":{"rendered":"Power station pumps up the security"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A power substation in East Anglia has upgraded its perimeter security with closed-circuit television, high-security mesh and electric fencing.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukpowernetworks.co.uk\">UK Power Networks<\/a> substation is part of the network that generates power from the North Sea gas fields.<\/p>\n<p>UK Power Networks instructed Carillion as the main contractor, who appointed Newall Civil Engineering to upgrade the security.<\/p>\n<p>Newall approached perimeter security systems specialist Zaun to design, manufacture and install a bespoke solution to secure the site with an \u00a380,000 contract.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Zaun devises ingenious high-security ArmaWeave upgrade to Palisade\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/palisade-cladding\/\">Zaun had to devise<\/a> three 5m-wide double gates, two of which form a &#8216;vehicle lock&#8217;, developed especially for the site, with specially-cantilevered outward-opening secure hinges completely hidden from outside the gates.<\/p>\n<p>The power station fencing consists of Zaun&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/products\/hisec-super-6-358\/\" data-wpil=\"url\">HiSec Super6<\/a> security fencing, which uses a popular \u2018358\u2019 welded close mesh configuration that makes it difficult to climb or cut with anything other than power tools.<\/p>\n<p>Zaun added heavy-duty 15mm thick base plates throughout with anti-tamper flanges on anchor bolts to secure the fencing to the ground, while the 3.2m high <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/blog\/types-of-fence-toppings\/\" title=\"Types of fence toppings and their uses\">fence top was topped<\/a> with Gallagher&#8217;s electric fencing to create a system of 4.4m height in total.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the site now benefits from automated CCTV cameras around the perimeter to further discourage would-be intruders and provide early warning to <a title=\"White House ups security after security breach\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/blog\/white-house-security\/\">security patrols of any attempted breach<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Looking for power <a title=\"Zaun highlights high security oil station fencing at Infra Oman\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/oil-station-fencing-2\/\">station fencing<\/a> for your substation? <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/contact-us\/\"  title=\"Contact\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">Contact<\/a> Zaun today!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A power substation in East Anglia has upgraded its perimeter security with closed-circuit television, high-security mesh and electric fencing.
