{"id":6631,"date":"2016-12-21T10:43:12","date_gmt":"2016-12-21T10:43:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/?p=6631"},"modified":"2021-08-03T11:28:37","modified_gmt":"2021-08-03T10:28:37","slug":"autism-school-muga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/autism-school-muga\/","title":{"rendered":"Colchester autism school unveils new MUGA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new multi-sports pitch for children with autism has gone down a storm at its official opening at an Essex special school.<\/p>\n<p>The MUGA at Doucecroft School in Colchester was opened last month after supporters raised the \u00a360,000 target to install the pitch.<\/p>\n<p>Doucecroft School is a specialist co-educational school for children and young people with autism and additional complex needs, aged 3-19 years. \u00a0Doucecroft has successfully nurtured students with wide-ranging strengths and needs and enabled them to grow in independence and self-esteem since its founding nearly 40 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/blog\/choosing-right-school-fence\/\" title=\"Choosing the right school fence\">school<\/a> is part of Autism Anglia, a charity that provides a range of services across East Anglia to enable children, young people and adults with autism to live as independently as possible and experience choice and inclusion in society.<\/p>\n<p>Doucecroft appointed Sport safe, an international provider of sports equipment installation, service and maintenance whose head office is in Colchester, to work with the management team to plan, design and deliver a bespoke <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/park-mugas\/\" title=\"Park MUGAs\">MUGA<\/a> child enjoy all year round.<\/p>\n<p>Sportsafe turned to Suffolk contractor MTA Leisure for the fencing, who specified steel fencing manufacturer <a data-wpil=\"url\" data-wpil=\"url\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/\">Zaun\u2019s<\/a> 3m-high Duo8 <a data-wpil=\"url\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/products\/super-rebound-fencing\/\">Super Rebound<\/a> twin horizontal wire panels, highly durable, low maintenance, \u2018graffiti proof and offer great rebound properties similar to a wall.<\/p>\n<p>The new MUGA was put through its paces at the opening ceremony in several football matches between Doucecroft and another SEN partner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/school-muga\/\" title=\"MUGA ensures more lungfuls of inspiration at Surrey school\">school<\/a> nearby.<\/p>\n<p>Donors included: The PJK Charitable Trust; The Anglian Community Trust; Colchester Catalyst <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/michael-lewis-foundation\/\" title=\"Diabetes UK honour Lewis family on back of charity golf and ball\">Charity<\/a>, The Peter Harrison Trust, the Pantaloon Theatre Company, Reedmans Florists, collection money from Waterwise at Poplar Nurseries and Lisa Rivers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-6633 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/media\/2016\/12\/2016101902-Doucecroft-School-MTA-SportSafe-pic-3-low-res-for-web-300x175.jpg\" alt=\"autism\" width=\"300\" height=\"175\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/media\/2016\/12\/2016101902-Doucecroft-School-MTA-SportSafe-pic-3-low-res-for-web-300x175.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/media\/2016\/12\/2016101902-Doucecroft-School-MTA-SportSafe-pic-3-low-res-for-web.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new multi-sports pitch for children with autism has gone down a storm at its official opening at an Essex special school.
