If so, you should already be aware of how important your role is. Public transport terminals are often targeted by vandals and terrorists, so installing solid, reliable defences and deterrents is essential. Security measures can even help stop fare-dodgers and ensure revenue protection. We discussed these issues in-depth in previous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/blogs\/blog-archive\/\" title=\"Blog Archive\">blogs<\/a>. Today, however, we\u2019d like to focus on the unique <a data-wpil=\"url\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/blog\/covid-19-security\/\" title=\"The post COVID 19 security challenges of Britain\">challenges of securing<\/a> a train station and the railways that run through it. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/fencing-for-transport\/trackside-fencing\/\">Train stations<\/a> obviously differ dramatically from other public transport terminals because they aren\u2019t discreet, self-contained spaces. Instead, they are nodes on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/products\/decorative-railings\/\" title=\"Holloway Railings\">rail<\/a> network and are connected by the railways. As a result, they present different <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/blog\/hotel-security\/\" title=\"The challenging world of hotel security\">security challenges<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>1. Coping with the rails<\/h2>\n<p>Obviously, you can\u2019t surround a train <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/oil-station-fencing-2\/\" title=\"Zaun highlights high security oil station fencing at Infra Oman\">station with security fencing<\/a>. Once a criminal or intruder is on the tracks, they can easily walk along to reach a station. However, if you\u2019re responsible for a station or stretch of tracks where this isn\u2019t the case, it\u2019s time to start thinking <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/about-us\/\"  title=\"about\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">about<\/a> adding it.<\/p>\n<h2>2. Keeping people on the platform<\/h2>\n<p>Certain individuals may attempt to leave the platform at a station and drop down onto the tracks. In addition, vandals and other criminals may attempt to access the tracks this way, whereas other people might foolishly go onto the tracks to retrieve dropped items. Finally, of course, suicidal individuals may attempt to jump onto the tracks just before a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/blog\/bike-locker-for-train-stations\/\" title=\"4 Reasons to Use A Bike Locker for Train Stations\">train<\/a> arrives to end their lives. The first two groups we mentioned can be deterred with clear warning signs and CCTV cameras. However, the only way to prevent attempted suicides at train <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/power-station-fencing\/\" title=\"Power station pumps up the security\">stations is to hire on-site security<\/a> personnel trained to spot potential suicide risks and intervene before they jump onto the tracks.<\/p>\n<h2>3.
