{"id":7195,"date":"2017-11-21T16:34:19","date_gmt":"2017-11-21T16:34:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/?p=7195"},"modified":"2022-01-06T17:01:15","modified_gmt":"2022-01-06T17:01:15","slug":"northampton-sports-pitches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/northampton-sports-pitches\/","title":{"rendered":"Northampton Sports pitches take shape"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A \u00a3330m state-of-the-art university is taking shape in Northampton, ready to open in 2018 with a floodlit all-weather pitch and three Multi-Use Games Areas for use by the community and students.<\/p>\n<p>Northamptonshire civil engineering firm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prestigecivil.co.uk\">Prestige Civil &amp; Sports<\/a> has begun constructing the sports pitches at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.northampton.ac.uk\">Northampton University<\/a>&#8216;s Waterside Campus using Zaun <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/sports-muga-fencing\/\">sports fencing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The floodlit all-weather pitch measuring 108m by 71m is already complete, with 4.8m-high fencing for ball retention, Duo8 Sports Rebound to the bottom 3m and floodlight posts incorporated into the fencing.<\/p>\n<p>Duo8 Super Rebound forms a robust play area that is highly durable, low maintenance and \u2018graffiti proof, with great rebound properties similar to a wall and rubber inserts between panels and posts to keep \u2018rattle\u2019 during play to a minimum.<\/p>\n<p>The new university&nbsp;will transform a 58-acre brownfield site along the River Nene into a vibrant cultural and social attraction, <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/specifier-zone\/cad-drawings\/\"  title=\"drawing\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">drawing<\/a> in students and visitors from across the county and further afield.<\/p>\n<p>Work on-site began in 2015 and is now close to completion \u2013 the new campus opens its doors in September <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/blog\/security-predictions\/\" title=\"Our security predictions for 2018\">2018<\/a> \u2013 with community focus at the heart of the design.<\/p>\n<p>This includes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/sectors\/commercial-fencing\/\" title=\"Residential &amp; Commercial Fencing\">commercial<\/a> space, a hotel, leisure space and sustainable links to the town. In addition, a Grade II listed engine shed on the south of the campus has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/zaun-helps-convert-posts-olympics-sceptic\/\" title=\"Zaun helps convert Post&#8217;s Olympics sceptic\">converted<\/a> into the home of the Students\u2019 Union and its sports, societies and services.<\/p>\n<p>A multi-use sports dome \u2013 for netball, badminton, volleyball and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/park-fencing\/\" title=\"Haringey park overhaul is a slam dunk\">basketball<\/a> \u2013 two sports performance labs and teaching spaces are also part of the development.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"wpil_keyword_link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/sports-fencing\/\"  title=\"Sports\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">Sports<\/a> are offered free to all students \u2013 Northampton is one of only two universities in the country to offer this.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A \u00a3330m state-of-the-art university is taking shape in Northampton, ready to open in 2018 with a floodlit all-weather pitch and three Multi-Use Games Areas for use by the community and students.
