{"id":7211,"date":"2017-12-05T14:34:31","date_gmt":"2017-12-05T14:34:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/?p=7211"},"modified":"2022-01-07T09:32:40","modified_gmt":"2022-01-07T09:32:40","slug":"sr3-fences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/sr3-fences\/","title":{"rendered":"Zaun develops SR3 fences for rail and other CNI applications"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A high-security fence for rail and other critical national infrastructure applications that resists for more than five minutes sustained attack with specialist power tools has been developed by steel mesh fencing manufacturer Zaun.<\/p>\n<p>Zaun has received a revised Certificate of Product Approval from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bregroup.com\/products\/lpcb\/\">Loss Prevention Certification Board<\/a> (LPCB) to include its brand new <a data-wpil=\"url\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/products\/corrusec-sr3-fencing\/\">CorruSec SR3<\/a> fences approved to Security Rating 3.<\/p>\n<p>The fencing system incorporates corrugated HiSec 3-5-10 mesh sandwiched between further panels of HiSec 3-5-10, a special welded steel wire fence panel similar to the type of mesh usually used for prison fencing whose name is derived from its mesh size \u2013 3&#8243; \u00d7 0.5&#8243; \u00d7 10 gauge.<\/p>\n<p>The original concept was the idea of Zaun co-founder and director Alastair Henman \u2013 and has been developed by research and development manager Adam Christie.<\/p>\n<p>Christie explains: \u201cAlastair conceived the design by looking at the <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/construction-site-fencing\/\"  title=\"construction\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">construction<\/a> of cardboard, in particular the corrugated kind, and how the corrugated element created a much stronger three-dimensional material.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, we started experimenting with a corrugated mesh <a data-wpil=\"url\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/leisure-centre-fencing\/\" title=\"Blaydon Leisure Centre undergoes vital fencing and pitch extensions\">centre section to give fencing<\/a> greater rigidity and increase its thickness without adding much to the material content and weight, to counter the kind of tools attackers might use.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CorruSec SR3 has been subjected to sustained attack by testers from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bregroup.com\/\">Buildings Research Establishment<\/a> (BRE) wielding a range of hand and power tools, yet they could not breach the CorruSec SR3 fences in less than five minutes.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/varimesh-sports-fencing\/\" title=\"Zaun launches French Varimesh sports fencing system\">fencing system<\/a> is manufactured to BS1722 Part 14 and is approved at heights from 2.4 to 6m above the ground, in-ground or base plated options.<\/p>\n<p>Each panel features a 76.2mm x 12.7mm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/blog\/court-fence\/\" title=\"Can you practice tennis against the court fence wire mesh?\">mesh configuration with 3mm horizontal and vertical wires<\/a>. \u00a0The corrugated section is pressed to approximately 100mm in depth. \u00a0All three layers are bolted together using bolts fixed into place in a grid pattern throughout the combined <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/lacrosse-fencing\/\" title=\"Nottingham debuts huge lacrosse fence panels\">fence panel<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"wpil_keyword_link \" href=\"\/products\/corrusec-sr3-fencing\/\"  title=\"CorruSec SR3\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">CorruSec SR3<\/a> provides good visibility for use with CCTV cameras, while security toppings can be added to suit.<\/p>\n<p>Henman says: \u201cThe current specification for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.crossrail.co.uk\">Crossrail<\/a> stations is a \u20185-minute fence\u2019, so we set about seeing if we could create a viable product.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAcross our customer base, operators of critical national infrastructure are upgrading their most sensitive sites given heightened fear of terrorist threats and the advances in technology, such as our CorruSec <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/our-products\/\"  title=\"product\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">product<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As well as rail applications, SR3 fences are ideal for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/blog\/asset-protection-fencing\/\" title=\"Nuclear resurgence demands secure asset protection\">protecting assets<\/a> at water utilities, oil and gas compounds, data centres and other sites of critical national importance.<\/p>\n<p>Further, Zaun security systems have achieved Security Ratings, including their HiSec Super10, Duo8 and <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link \" href=\"\/products\/358-security-fencing\/\"  title=\"HiSec 358\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">HiSec 358<\/a> systems (certificate number 1164a\/05) and are entered into the Red Book for LPS 1175: Issue 7.<\/p>\n<p>To maintain accreditation and a listing in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redbooklive.com\/\">LPCB Red Book<\/a>, manufacturers must regularly demonstrate to independent auditors that they produce products consistent with those tested.\u00a0 This gives the customer the guarantee that they are getting a secure and quality product.<\/p>\n<p>Products approved by LPCB are rigorously tested for resistance to deliberate attack and play an important role in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/blog\/protect-commercial-properties\/\" title=\"Why you should Protect Commercial Properties\">protecting people and property<\/a> against physical attack, burglary, vandalism and terrorism.<\/p>\n<p><a data-wpil=\"url\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/approved-tested-fencing-gates\/\" title=\"SR Rated Fencing\">LPS 1175<\/a> specifically covers the approval and listing of intruder resistant building components, strongpoints, security enclosures and free-standing barriers.<\/p>\n<p>It results from many years of work by <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.zaun.co.uk\/sr-rating\/\"  title=\"LPCB\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\">LPCB<\/a>, the UK government, insurers and police.
